Upgrading the Survival Strike Game Engine

13 Aug 11

Over the next few weeks we'll start to upgrade the Survival Strike Game Engine to the latest version.  This will have significant feature increases and bug fixes.  All of the game play features should start to to shape then and we'll be driving this out to a 1.4 version release.

Game Membership & Management System

12 Aug 11

We've now completed version 1 BETA development of the Game Membership & Management System (GMMS) that will be used to power the Survival Strike website and Manage the Game Servers.

We're actively selling this as a product for the Torque Games Engine and will support other game engines in due course. You can find out more information on GMMS at our Indie Game Developer Tools website.

Over the next week or two, we'll be moving over to an updated version of GMMS, as the Survival Strike website is using an earlier prototype.

Survival Strike - Player Rankings

06 Jun 11

Player Rankings are now fully implemented into Survival Strike using our in-house developed and commercially available Game Ranking System. This will enable you to keep track of your kills, deaths, in-game currency and more.

Survival Strike - Missions and Objectives

09 May 11

Your ideas are needed for single player and multi-player (team based) missions and objectives.  In Single player, we're looking at creating missions based off the story line shown on the info page with a cut scene for each of them.  In multi-player, an objective list with some screenshots associated to each task.  Drop me a message here to let me know your thoughts on this.  Thanks.

Survival Strike - Prizes for achievements

09 May 11

One of the recently added features in Survival Strike is rankings.  So far, the following information is recorded:

Total Kills, Deaths and In-game currency earned through kills and achievements.  In-game currency is also used to purchase more ammo, unlock weapons and use tactical weapons which is generated through kills.  If you run out of currency, or ammo you can either use un-armed combat/swords, search for any ammo packs in the regular places, become a zombie for a while or just delete your player profile, start over and get some startup currency to get you going again.  Although, keep on deleting your profiles means that your players ranking will be reset.  I also thought that it would be better for you to keep your weapons unlocked, at least until you didn't need them any more, instead of losing them when you get killed or run out of ammo.

For the best monthly or quarterly achievements, would you like to see some real and some virtual prizes?  (eg. extra ammo, extra weapons, iPod2 etc)

Quite a bit of thought has gone into this and your views on this would like to be heard.  You can drop me a message on my main website by clicking here

Thanks - your opinions/views will help us to create a better game.

Survival Strike - Website and Store is now LIVE

04 May 11

Survival Strike website and store is now LIVE with more content - taking pre-purchase orders with 50% off while the game is in alpha development.  A fully featured 1.3.5 alpha release demo is on it's way, capped at level 1 (pre-purchase to unlock) with major improvements over 1.3a test.  No more jumping about zombies, more choice of weapons for each player type, fly dropships and more.

Even though there may be some gaps between blogging, this does not mean that development has slowed down or stopped.  It just means that there has been updates on the tools development side that will be used on Survival Strike and other games, such as the
Game Ranking System, and Game Membership and Management System.  These two products are also being sold commercially on the Something2Play (developer) website to help keep the Survival Strike servers running - being an Indie Games Developer I need all the help I can get :)

You may have also noticed that the story timeline has now a reference to Mars!  While most of the gameplay so far will be based on Earth, you'll be able to visit each of the other planets shown in the solar system map (click on the Planets button on the front page) and get a taste of the action in their own home worlds.  With Mars being one of the main focus points today, with a view to colonization it make perfect sense to add this into the timeline.  The start of the base station entrance on Mars (WIP).

Next week I'll start to show off more screenshots of 1.3.5 alpha.

Survival Strike - Working towards 1.3.5 alpha

31 Mar 11

I'm now working towards version 1.3.5 alpha release of Survival Strike, which will be a public release and where the blogs will start to reflect the features available with some videos.  You are probably thinking what happend to 1.3.1 to 1.3.4 releases?  This is simply down to the fast and rapid development of the Game Ranking and Game Membership & Management Systems that have played a major part in the increment of the Survival Strike versions and there just simply has not been enough time to create a game build between each release.  In doing so, it has also saved a considerable amount of development time.  In the 1.3.5a release you will see more weapons, characters, further levels and around 70% more content.  Then, it will be a push toward 1.4 alpha, followed by a beta release.

Survival Strike - 1.3 alpha test release (pending)

18 Jan 11

Surival Strike 1.3 alpha test (client) is now ready and pending release after final QA and server testing.

I'm currently updating the online servers to reflect this client release and will provide everyone who has pre-purchased with a 1.3a test client build for download as soon as the final QA and server checks have been completed.   From this point onwards there will be regular updates to patch up the build to a 1.4 Beta release where all of the core functionality, missions and gameplay will be in place.
