Story Timeline of Events (So far ...)

Earth Year 2016

Centre for Deep Space Exploration announcement

Recent advances in technology and space engineering has given us the ability to send deep space exploration probes outside of our own solar system, reducing costs of a manned mission and the time taken to reach the limits of our solar system by up to 3 years. We are now pleased to announce the launch of our main probe that contains a series of self replicating mini-probes using nano-technology capable of mapping and discovering new planets from interstellar space.

14 days later: Preparing for Deep space probe launch.
Mission Control: Deep space probe launched successfully.

Earth Year 2022

Un-manned Mission to Mars. Objective: To send multiple payloads to colonise mars.

Earth Year 2024

First Manned Mission to colonise Mars.

Earth Year 2026

Mission Control: Anomaly detected by advanced deep space probe sent beyond our solar system 10 years ago into interstellar space.  48 hours later: Probe has brought back images of what appears to be a rift in space.

Mission Control: We will launch one of the onboard mini-probes into the rift for further analysis.
3 days later: Mini-probe has entered the rift, with no further communication being sent back to main probe.  1 week later: Still no communication between the two probes, we fear that the mini-probe was damaged.  2 weeks later: Engineers are trying to establish new communication methods between the two probes as the frequency may have been altered.  1 month later: Communication between the two probes has now been re-established.  Waiting for further intel . . .

Mission Control: You're not going to believe this.  Mini probe has brought back further data to suggest that its co-ordinates have jumped dramatically, suggesting that it is now in a new solar system and its point of origin has changed, making the rift a wormhole.  We're verifying this data now.  10 days later: Mini-probe has confirmed this by sending back images from its oboard telescope with 3 undiscovered planets rotating their own Sun.  One of the planets appears to have atmospheric qualities of that from Earth.  This is a new discovery that has rocked the world that there could be life outside of our own galaxy.

1 month later: Newly discovered planets have been given names to identify them: Varnagus (far left), Saraneth (Middle) and Xonare (far right).  6 months later: Mini-probe has now reached the outer limits of the newly discovered solar system and is starting to orbit the Sun, collecting intel on each of the planets.

Earth Year 2027

Mission Control: Mini-probe has been sending back sound waves from the closest planet (Xonare) to the Main probe on the other side of the worm-hole.  We are now trying to decode the transmission, but it appears to be scrambled.  5 days later: Mini-probe is no longer transmitting data back to the main-probe.  Its transmission was ended abruptly, almost as if someone had pulled the plug.  10 days later: Main-probe has sent back images of what appears to be space craft exiting the worm-hole and heading to our solar system.  We wait for their arrival... it is unknown if they are hostile.

1 day later: We're under heavy attack!  They appear to be Cybernetic life-forms, hellbent on destroying our planet.  2 months later: We did not have time to prepare a counter attack, many of our defences were disabled and military capabilities were knocked out from the electromagnetic pulses fired by their drone space craft, many people who fought against them were lost in the first wave of their attack, they then used biological based weapons against us, leaving us powerless - people are getting sick, they are dying.
1 week later:  Further intel gathered from the captured cyborgs .. they are cybernetic life-forms from the planet known to us as Xonare, a red planet rich with volcanic ore. They are at war with the human inhabited planets known to us as Varnagus, Saraneth and further felt threatend by us when we sent a probe through the worm-hole, launching an attack on Earth. 1 month later:  the dead are walking the earth.

Earth Year 2028

Colony established on Mars.

Earth Year 2032

It's been 5 years since the Cyborgs attacked Earth.  Mission Control is no longer there, it was destroyed in the last attack. Survivors are small in numbers, mainly military in bunkers with enough firepower and supplies to hold off an attack for a good few years. The dead still walk the earth and are increasing in number if they bite you, it's highly contageous - so keep your distance. Our remaining scientists have been trying to find a cure for zombification in its early stages, but so far have been unsuccessful. From time to time the Colonial Marines from Varnagus visit Earth to help us fight against the Cyborgs and their mining machines.  There is talk of planning a Strike on Xonare to find a cure, but we can only do this once our numbers and resources are strong enough to defeat them.  We are only going to use low military grade Nukes as a last resort - learn, develop and acquire as much technology as we can to defeat them.

Earth Year 2033

Much has changed with the people of Varnagus they are also at war with the Human colony on Saraneth - torn between two wars, their only chance of Survival is to help rebuild Earth.
